Five on Friday

1.  Last Saturday a group of us decided to "get our Mardi Gras on" and participated in the third annual Fat Saturday Pub Crawl in Augusta.  We had an early dinner downtown and then made our way to all nineteen bars and restaurants that participated in the event.  At some places we just got a stamp on our card and at others we got a drink and stayed for a while.  It was really fun to go to places we've never been before and hang out with our friends.  Plus, I ran into one of my sorority sisters along our route.  Like Kristina said, we are ready for Fat Saturday 2014!

2.  Last Tuesday we celebrated Gaines' 27th birthday.  We both agree that birthdays are quite as fun when you have to work, but I guess that's what happens.  We started the day with breakfast, presents, and decorations and ended with a delicious steak dinner at his house complete with cupcakes.  Oh, and one of gifts was a "Doggie DNA Test Kit" so we can finally figure out what type of dog Molly is.  We think she might be a labrashepard, but I'll let you know for sure in 2-3 weeks. ;)

3.  We celebrated Valentine's Day a couple of nights later by having dinner at home (and I got my favorite flowers!), and we then went to see a "Side Effects" and eat dinner at our favorite place in Augusta on Saturday night.  We used a Christmas gift card for the movie (and of course popcorn and candy) and then someone paid for our entire meal at The Snug.  Talk about the best. datenight. ever.

4. If you love blogs, then I'm sure you have probably heard of the best blog ever, Young House Love.  They are a cute couple who lives in Richmond and completes tons of DIY projects around their house.  They came out with their own book recently with 243 new projects and ideas, and it is fabulous!  I highly recommend it to anyone that loves do-it-yourself projects and/or wants inspiration for anything house related.  I promise it's worth the money...and speaking of which, I also bought it with a Christmas gift card. Thanks Santa. :)

5.  Gaines and I cleaned out and organized every corner of our house during our day off on Monday (I'm talking desks, closets, cabinets... you name it, and we organized it).  We found a black shelf with five hooks just sitting in our office closest that I thought would look cute in the space behind our front door.  It not only fills the space, but is a place to put our keys when we first walk inside.  Why didn't I think of this before? Anyways, I added a picture frame that we had in our bedroom and a candle holder that my brother gave me a while ago.  Then, I bought a 6x6 canvas, painted it blue (which was leftover from our guest bedroom and bathroom), and glued a starfish on top (which was leftover from our wedding).  The total cost of the project was $2!

I hope you have a great weekend!!

I wonder if it's too late to teach Molly this...? ;)

Turner Family Fun Minus One

This past weekend I drove to Charlotte to help my brother move into his new house in Meyers Park.  He moved from Florida, and I am beyond excited to have him closer-- and I know my parents are, too. :)  They drove down from Richmond, and we just had the best time being together, organizing Sammy's house (it must be hereditary), and getting to know his roomate Brett and his family.

I can't wait for many more fun weekends together, Sambo (and Dales I can't wait for you to come visit!).

Panorama House Views

One of my favorite things about the iPhone is the "Panorama" option-- I just love how easy it is to show a 180 degree view! Technology these days.  Anyways, I feel like I haven't updated about our house lately, so I took some Panorama pictures to give you a better idea of what each room looks like.

Here's the view you have when you stand at the front door and look into the den:

Here is another shot of the den if you stand near the kitchen table:

If you go stand in the middle of the kitchen, here's your view of the dining room (I use that word loosely) and den:

And here's another shot if you scan more to the left:

Here is the kitchen from the vantage point if you stand in front of the table:

If you walk down the hall, turn into our room, and stand in front of the TV, here's the view:

And if you were to check out the guest bedroom across the hall, here's what you would see:

Our office room currently has a treadmill, an extra mattress, our old coffee table, and lots of other random things in it, so I didn't bother to snap a shot of that.  Hopefully we'll get that cleaned out soon [cough, cough husband].  ;)

Thanks for stopping by!
