NYC Girls Weekend

Mom, Dales, Annie, and I decided to have a "girls weekend" in NYC a few weekends ago during my Fall Break and boy, am I glad we did!  There's just nothing like family time. :) We had a fun dinner on Friday night at Fig + Olive, which was right across the street from our hotel, and then we met up with Dales' boyfriend Pat and his family for drinks.  I hate that I didn't get any pictures that night, but we had a great time, and I was so glad to finally meet Pat's parents.  On Saturday morning we got up and went to the new 9/11 museum.  It was cold and rainy as we waited in line, but the museum itself is unbelievable.  It was very touching, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

We warmed up at lunch at P.J. Clarke's, which had a cool view of the Statue of Liberty.  The weather cleared up and we headed back to Dales' apartment before hitting a few shops on Madison.

That night we went to Dock's Oyster Bar and Seafood Grill, which had great food and an really fun atmosphere.  Pat joined us for dinner, and we practically closed the place down. ;)

On Sunday morning we walked through Central Park before I had to catch my flight home.  The weather was so nice, and I hated to leave!

I will always be so thankful for the time I got to spend with my mom, sister, and grandma that weekend!  What wonderful memories. :)

NYC Girls Trip

When Mom, Dales, and I get together three things are guaranteed to happen-- there will be lots of shopping, wine drinking, and fun!  After being in New Hampshire for a few days, Mom and I flew to NYC to visit Dales for the weekend.  We got in Thursday evening, met up, and headed to Dales and Pat's favorite place Tao.  The food was really good and the atmosphere was definitely neat.  After dinner we walked to Bryant Park, where we got a drink at a fun outdoor bar.  And on our way back to the hotel we walked through Grand Central, which is such a beautiful building.

The next morning we got up early and headed to Rockefeller Plaza. We grabbed coffee right next to where the Today Show films and a girl group was performing (but we had never heard of them...whomp, whomp). Then, we walked through Central Park for about an hour before heading back to the hotel to shower.  For lunch we went to Nello, which has become a Turner Girls Weekend tradition. ;) We sat outside on the sidewalk, drank champagne, and had absolutely delicious meals.

After a full day of shopping (with only one cute shirt to show for it!) we met up with Pat for dinner at Eataly, which is right by the Flatiron Building and is an amazing gourmet Italian market.  It's absolutely huge and if you've ever heard of something Italian, there's a 100% chance they sell it there.  If you are in the area I would definitely recommend it!  We had a great, light dinner at the rooftop restaurant and then did a little bar-hopping together after.

The next morning we headed to a local flea market before stopping at the Chelsea Market for more shopping...well, window shopping.  We ate at The Standard Grill in the Meatpacking District, and it was yet another amazing restaurant.  Then, we took a cab to Central Park, where we grabbed a drink at The Boathouse.  It was a little hot, but we had the best time people watching and enjoying the view.  For dinner that night we headed across the street to Fig and Olive and had-- you guessed it-- another great meal.  We didn't starve in NYC, that's for sure. ;)

On our final morning together we ate brunch at Madison and Vine, which was really good, and walked around a little bit before I had to catch my flight home.

It was such a great weekend and I am so thankful for such great memories with my mom and sister!!  Until next time, New York... :)

Empire State of Mind

Two weekends ago my summer officially started when I flew up to NYC to visit my sister.  The Turner and Story girls had talked about taking a trip up there this summer, and I was so excited that our idea actually turned into a reality. :)

When we got there on Friday, it was absolutely pouring.  Our cab ride from LaGuardia took a while and since Amy and Julie were staying at a hotel about a mile from Dales' place, we just decided to do dinner separately that night.  After catching up in Dales' apartment, Mom, Dales, and I swam ran down the street to a Chinese place we had gone to the last time and got some delicious sushi and wine.

The next morning we grabbed Starbucks (of course!) and headed toward Central Park.  The rain had stopped, the sky had cleared up, and it turned out to be a gorgeous day.  We met up with Amy and Julie in the park before heading back to Dales place to shower and get ready for lunch and shopping.

Around five we met up with Amy and Julie again at Pier 82 for a sunset cruise around Manhattan.  I've seen a lot of the touristy sites in NYC before, but this cruise definitely takes the cake!  It was such an awesome way to see the city, and we got so many awesome pictures from the water.  I would definitely recommend the Circle Line Harbor Lights Cruise if you are visiting the area any time soon!  And we ended the night with a fun dinner at an Italian place near Times Square before walking back home.

Our last day was spent enjoying the beautiful weather.  Mom, Dales, and I ate brunch at The Smith and then walked around and did a little more shopping (surprising, right?).  That afternoon Julie and Amy came by to see Dailey's apartment and then we ended our trip by meeting up with Pat for a great Italian dinner at MiMis.

We had the best time and I just can't express how lucky I am to have such a great mom, sister, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law.  Where's our next Turner/Story girls trip?? ;)
