Spring Has Sprung

It's felt like spring for months now, but I love that it's now official and the perfect time to fix up our yard.  It just looks so "blah" to me during the winter, but now that everything has greened up, it feels much more alive.  Gaines and I had wedded out the shrub area and laid down pine straw a few weeks ago and then I planted our window boxes last week.  He had picked up a ton of different colored impatiens from the high school plant sale, and I grabbed a bright pink geranium from Salters.  The two spikes in the pots by the stairs survived the winter, which was a big plus! Our grass still needs some work, but just ignore that part in the pictures below. ;)

Happy Thursday!

Go Bubba!

There was a lot of Masters-watching in our house this past weekend!

Usually I don't care about golf, but the Masters is near-and-dear to my heart, since I used to live a mile from the course and got to go to the practice round with my family two years ago.

Gaines and I were rooting for Bubba Watson yesterday and were so excited when he finally won after making that crazy, awesome shot from the woods.

Not only is a lefty (like me!), but he's a GEORGIA BULLDOG!

Way to go Bubba, and how 'bout them dawgs??! ;)

Hoppy Easter!

I hope you've had an egg-cellent day!

Best of Burke

I was told by Allison this past weekend that I "really need to explain that 'Best Teacher' thing" on the blog.  So Allie S, here ya go. ;)

Burke County's local newspaper is called the "True Citizen," and it comes out every Wednesday.  Each year they do a "Best of Burke" competition that people in the community can vote for.  Things like,

Best Insurance Company
Best Overall Restaurant
Best Gift Shop
Best Pharmacist
Best Nail Salon
Best Nurse
Best Small Business
Best Firefighter
Best Convenience Store

I'm sure you get the idea. :)  Anyways, I got an email about a month ago that I got voted "Best Middle School Teacher."

What?? Me??!!

There are so many days I feel completely unworthy of the votes, but am so appreciative and thankful I get to teach in a great county.

Here is the ad the BOE ran in the newspaper last week:

Aren't my little sixth graders precious?!

Baby Borges

This past Saturday I drove home to celebrate my bff's baby shower!!!

I still picture Dems and I being 17 and cheering at Godwin football games or picking crabs at the rivah or singing our favorite songs in the car at the top of our lungs on the way to WEAG. So to finally see her baby bump and celebrate that precious little baby inside was a little surreal, but amazing and exciting at the same time.

She has got to be the cutest pregnant person I've ever seen in my life, and you can just see the glow and excitement she has.

Steph, Sarah, Tara, and Linds hosted an amazing shower at Steph and Kyle's adorable house complete with delicious food and drinks, fun little games, and tons of handmade pink decorations.

As Dems was opening gifts, you could just tell how much this baby girl is going to be loved.... and maybe a little spoiled by her family and friends ;)

After playing a few games....

we got to find out Baby Borges' name, which could not be any more perfect.

We love you already, Charlie!!

And since we're the "Bahs" and of course Charlie's "aunties," we thought we'd combine the two and be her...

BAHUNTIES. :)

And here's Dems with her sisters, sister-in-laws, mom, and nieces.  Her family is the BEST!

And last but not least, we got to watch our little mommy-to-be test her skills on her adorable niece Virginia.

That'll be you in less than 4 months, Meati!! ;)

#LifeAsAlphaChis

I'm back in the Peach State after a great couple of days being home in Virginia!  Waaaay more about that tomorrow, but first I had to share this hilarious website that a bunch of AXOs living in the sorority house this year made.  Some of the little videos might only be funny if you lived in the house, but it's still pretty entertaining either way.

You can check it out here:

Happy Tuesday!
