Ten on Tuesday

1. Happy October!  Geez Louise, where does the time go?  I'm so excited it's finally starting to feel like fall, though, and I can't wait to pull out my jeans, boots, sweaters, and scarves and drink Pumpkin Spice Lattes all the time.

2. I turned the big 2-6 on Sunday and had the BEST day thanks to my awesone husband (who made the day so special despite just having had back surgery), my fabulous family (both mine and Gaines'), and my great friends.  We had a low-key day that started off with breakfast, included a lot of relaxation, and ended with a delicious meal "catered" by my in-laws.  Thank you for all of the sweet messages- I really, really appreciated all of the birthday love. :)

3. I opened my gift from Gaines yesterday morning and sat there for a few seconds confused. A fake apple and a phone with a picture of an eye on it? Ooooohhh! An Apple iPhone!! What a sweet, corny guy he is. :)

4. Ten years ago (again, where does the time go??) my parents planned and exectued the best surprise birthday party I could have ever imagined. Elisabeth and I went down to the rivah on Friday night with my dad and Dales while my mom and Sammy stayed home in Richmond for a "soccer tournament."  Saturday morning I was woken up with a video camera in my face (mind you, I didn't have my contacts in and was wearing my retainer...) and my dad saying, "Kates! Kates! Go look outside!"  I couldn't actually see anything since I'm basically blind, but when I went to the window I heard lots of cheering and "Happy birthdays!"  I rushed to get ready as 25 of my friends came running upstairs.  My parents had rented a huge 55-passenger bus that had picked up all my friends in Richmond that morning at 6am and drove them to Deltaville.  We spent the day hanging out and celebrating by the water, and it was by far one of the best days of my life.

P.S. How young do we look?!
5.  Gaines' back surgery went well and I just wanted to thank you all so much for the love and prayers.  The surgery started at 1:45pm last Wednesday, lasted exactly an hour, and we were in the car on the way home by 5:15pm.  He's doing really well right now and has just been spending his days laying down, playing video games, and ringing a tiny bell anytime he needs me.  Kidding (about the last part). ;)

6.  On Saturday a bunch of my girlfriends and I signed up to walk in the Bird Dog Breakaway 5k run/2-mile walk in Waynesboro.  In the last 5k we did together, we were crowned the "Winners of the Walkers" (even if we were the only ones who knew about it), so this time we were deteremined to continue our reign.  I think Kristina sums up this race pretty well when she said, "Through a unanimous vote (from the three of us) and several disqualifications (also given out by the three of us) - we are pretty sure we were the winners of the walkers again this time!"

7.  Later that afternoon after the walk, I'm pretty sure Gaines and I had a combined 25 heart attacks as we were cheering on our Bulldogs from our den.  Thankfully, we pulled out a 51-44 win over Tennessee, but boy was it look ugly at times.

8.  Speaking of football, we're still ranked #5 in the nation!  And how 'bout the SEC taking up 5 out of the top 10 spots.  Best conference? Hands down.

We play USC this weekend in Columbia and ESPN Gameday is going to be filmed there. Even though we aren't going to make it to the game, I told Gaines I'm going to need a few of his pain pills to make it through this one.  I can already feel my anxiety rising.  But hopefully we'll show the who's best in the SEC East. Sorry, Liz. ;)

9. This weekend I started reading "Where We Belong" by Emily Griffin.  I didn't get too far into it yet, but I love her other books and so far I'm loving this one, too.
10. And what would a TOT post be without a picture of our spoiled luttle Mollybug?

Happy Tuesday!

It's Gameday! It's Gameday!

This weekend we headed to the Classic City to cheer on our Georgia Bulldogs with 92,746 of our closest friends.  We set up a tailgate at the Holiday Inn and spent the afternoon eating, drink, and hanging out with some of our favorite people.  It was so much fun to see our college friends and great to tailgate with some of our Waynesboro friends, too.   Around 7pm we headed down to Sanford Stadium to watch our dawgs dominate the Vandy Commadores 48-3 (!!) and of course ended the night with friends at a few downtown bars.

How 'bout them dawgs!! :)

Ten on Tuesday

1. We've spent the past two weekends working on a project for the den!  We found this coffee table on Pinterest and after a little encouragement from our builder-friend-extraordinaire Chris Lineback, we decided to go for it.
We still have to add the "X"s and the "L-brackets" and of course stain it, but we're probably two-thirds of the way done and love it!

I'll post the finished product as soon as it's done. :)

2. I also created another quick little project I saw on Pinterest a few weeks ago.  I just put some scrapbook paper in a white picture frame that I wasn't using and created an instant white board for the kitchen.  We use it for grocery lists, reminders, and little notes to each other.  So easy!

3.  Aww today marks our little pup being six months old!  I realize I'm that annoying girl that treats her dog like her child, but I just can't help it.  I mean, look at that face. ;)
4. And speaking of important dates, today is baby Charlie's two month birthday!  I'm so sad I still haven't met her, but I fall more and more in love with her from each picture Demetria sends me.   We love our baby bah!

5. We have three couple friends in Waynesboro who are all due with their first babies in October.  I cannot believe Emma, Brigham, and Sydnee will be here so soon, and I can't wait to finally hold them!

6.  I recently started taking a class to get my "Gifted Endorsement," so I can hopefully teach all honors science classes next year. I have to take four classes throughout the year and each class requires a minimum of fifty hours. Thankfully, the class meets at BCMS, so I just have to walk down the hall, but it's every Tuesday from 4:30-9:30 and some Saturdays. The hours are long and we have homework, but I'm a big nerd and am actually kind of loving it. :)
7.  Gaines and I have been loving the fact that college football is underway and pretty much have our TV turned to ESPN all weekend.  Our Bulldogs have beat Buffalo, Missouri, and Florida Atlantic and are currently ranked #5! How 'bout them dawgs?

8. And speaking of the dawgs, we're going to Athens this weekend for the UGA vs. Vandy game!  I absolutely cannot wait to tailgate, cheer on my favorite team, and hang out with some of my college besties.

9.  This weekend is sort of Gaines' last hurrah for a little while, though.  He's had a ruptered disk in his back since about March and is getting back surgery next Wednesday to fix it and straighten out his spine. :(  Any prayers would be much appreciated!
10.   Is anyone else excited about the upcoming fall shows?  Gaines' recovery actually falls at a perfect time, because we'll have an excuse to sit around all of next weekend and watch our favorites.  Modern Family, CSI, The Big Bang Theory, Person of Interest, and Revenge, how we've missed you!

Happy Tuesday!

The Future Mr. and Mrs. Lettre

Congratulations to one of my best friends since sixth grade Elisabeth on her engagement to Mike!!

He proposed at Oyster Bar in Columbia last Thursday night (look at that rock!), almost three years after their first date.  Congratulations to the future Lettres, and I can't wait for the celebrations to begin!!

Labor Day Weekend :)

I'm baaaaaaaack!

This past weekend Gaines and I headed home to see my family for the long weekend.  I had been looking forward to it for months, and it was by far the best weekend ever.  Seriously.  But how could I not have had fun with my most favorite people in the world at my most favorite place in the world?

We left Friday after work and got to the rivah a little after midnight.  It was a long ride, but we passed the time chatting, listening to music, and laughing hysterically over Suri's Burn Book (if you haven't seen this site, go there now!).

And for once we had another passenger!  Molly was honestly the easiest, best dog in the car. And I'm not just saying that beacuse she's mine.  She was literally perfect.  She would either look out the window...

sleep...

or look ridiculously cute the entire time.

On Saturday morning we woke up to this view...

I know, right?

And since it was basically Molly's first time in the water, we were so excited to teach her to swim...

which she wasn't really sure about until she got left out of the family picture.

By the end of the day, she was a swimming pro! Watch out Michael Phelps.

My sweet grandparents joined us from New Hampshire....

Dales and Pat came down New York... and Sammy and Meghan (not pictured) came from up Florida and North Carolina.  Talk about a family of travelers!

That afternoon we sat on the dock and ate our way through an entire bushel of crabs...

 lounged by the pool...

and ate snacks out of poor Grammy's broken thumb splint thing.

We shared tons of stories and laughs over an amazing "surf and turf" meal...

and of course it's never a Turner family gathering without a little dancing in the kitchen...

and a little lovin' on Tucker.

Meanwhile, Molly cozied up to Papa...

but only used Gram for her wine. Smart girl. ;)

On Sunday the boys went off to play golf...

the girls hung by the water...

and Dad chilled with his new favorite family member.

Later, we took the boat and jetskis across the channel the sand bar...

and then enjoyed another delicious meal made by "Momma T," followed by a little game of family beer pong in the basement.

We ended the night and the weekend with a little family photo...

that makes me smile from ear to ear every time I look at it.  It's so rare nowadays that my whole family is together, but when we are I just get such an overwhelming sense of happiness.

I love you all and thank you for the perfect weekend!!
