I have been meaning to write a post about how excited I am that my students did so well on their CRCT tests. They were so proud of themselves! And remember how I mentioned that if they passed all 5 tests, they got a free trip to Six Flags? Over 550 students at our school earned the trip, and a majority of our team was able to go!
The sixth and seventh graders packed onto six buses early yesterday morning for a fun-filled day at Six Flags, but unfortunately, they didn't make it to the amusement park. The bus driver of the first bus (Ms. Anthony, who has subbed for our team numerous times) slammed on her brakes at a construction zone on I-20, and it caused the five buses behind her to crash.
THANKFULLY no one was seriously injured, but they airlifted Ms. Anthony to Grady Hospital in Atlanta and sent about 60 students to local hospitals with minor injuries, like cuts and bruises.
You can watch a news segment by clicking here, and the sweet little boy Isaiah who they interview is in my homeroom. He had reminded me about 100 times that he was going to Six Flags on his birthday, and my heart breaks for him and all the other kids who didn't get a chance to go. But again, I am so thankful they are all okay and cannot wait to give each of them a BIG hug tomorrow.
