Five on Friday

Oops! I did it again.

I said I was going to get better about blogging and then didn't. I'll catch up with a Five on Friday post today and have some free time again to post a lot in the coming weeks...promise!

[one]

Since the last post I wrapped up the school year with four days of post-planning, had a week off, and then started and finished teaching a three-day "Rising Sixth Grade" summer program.  It went great and we learned all about minerals, but I swear the students get shorter and their names get weirder year after year.  Like this, except opposite:

I spent last weekend in NYC visiting my sister and spending time with my mom, plus Gaines' mom and sister.  I'll be back with more pictures soon, but we had the best time. :)

We have so many fun trips and events planned this summer that it's hard not to look forward to things so much that times passes too quickly.  I'm trying my very best to just enjoy each day and not look too far ahead to the next thing.  Without hoping the days come too fast, here's what I'm most excited about this summer:

[1] We're heading to Atlanta tomorrow to say goodbye to our good friends Amy and Nate before they hit the road and move to Colorado.  I hate that they are leaving, but can't wait to see some of my best college girlfriends tomorrow night!

[2] Our church's Vacation Bible School starts Sunday, and even though I've never been to or taught at VBS before, but I am so grateful that a family friend Dominee really urged me to get involved.  I'm teamed up to teach the four and five year olds, so I am super, super excited.

[3] My oldest friend Elisabeth is having a wedding shower in Columbia, and I cannot wait to celebrate her and meet some of the other girls in her bridal party.  In less than 3 months she'll be Mrs. Lettre!

[4] We are spending a few days in Hilton Head to celebrate our second anniversary and to say we are excited is an understatement.  The beach and each other...what more could we ask for?

[5] We'll be heading to Gaines' family's coast house, which has been in their family for 100 years, for the 4th of July. It will be about 40 people together all weekend, and I can't wait for some fun in the sun with the Story clan!

[6] The following weekend we are traveling to Highlands, NC for Gaines' old roommates' wedding.  We are staying at a cute bed and breakfast and can't wait to explore the town and watch them become Mr. and Mrs.

[7] After the wedding, we'll head up I-95 and spend a week at my river house, which I've been looking forward to doing since leaving there after Christmas.  We'll finish up the weekend in Richmond at my girlfriend Allison's baby shower.  I cannot wait to see my bahmerahs and shower baby Palmer with lots of goodies. :)

After coming back from New York on Monday, I was stuck in the Atlanta airport for a while (until they decided to cancel my flight to Augusta, which resulted in me renting a car minivan and driving the two and a half hours home without my luggage...thanks Delta!), so I had time to catch up on some of my new favorite blogs (aside from the ones on the right I check religiously).  I thought I'd post them below in case you want to check them out, too.

Cupcakes and Cashmere (recommended by Dales... totally love this one!)

Happy (early) Father's Day to the best dad in the world!  I hate we can't all be together to celebrate, but he's leaving for a golf-filled week in Ireland, so I don't think he really minds. ;)  Here are some of my favorite pictures of us from the wedding:

There's nothing like a girl's love for her daddy.

Happy Friday!!
