Ten on Tuesday

I haven't been very good about taking pictures lately, but thought I'd update on life even without them. :)

1.  Two weeks ago my brother had to drive to Columbia for work, and since Waynesboro happens to be on the way, he drove up the night before and stayed with us.  It was so great to see him and catch up. He's doing great down in Florida, and I'm just so proud of him!

2.  And speaking of family, two weekends ago Amy was in town from Atlanta, so we all got to have dinner together at Gaines' parent's house.  I love nights like those!

3. This past weeknd Gaines was out of town, so Amy McGoff drove down from Augusta for a "sister datenight," as we like to call them.  She's my first out-of-town friend to see the house, and we had so much fun catching up and talking about her upcoming wedding over dinner and wine.

4. Speaking of wine, for Christmas my family got me a 3-month subscription to the Wine of the Month Club.  I get a bottle of red and a bottle of white in the mail each month and so far, the four bottles I've gotten have been really good.  It's such a fun surprise every month, and I would definitely recommend it as a gift. And if wine isn't your thing, they have tons of other "clubs" to choose from.

5.  I'm thinking about joining the Junior League of Augusta.  It seems like a sorority for grown ups with meetings, socials, and lots of volunteering.  Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated. :)

6.  Does anyone else love "Say Yes to the Dress?"  The new episode that aired Friday features a cute girl named Lauren who is searching for her wedding dress, but who was also recently paralyzed from the waist down after being shot in the back.  I got chills watching the episode on Friday night, realizing that she was one of the vicitms in the Midtown shooting that claimed the life of my unbelievably sweet sorority sister Brittney Watts this past summer.  It is such a senseless act of violence and such a tragic day.  You read more about it in an AJC article here and watch a little clip of the episode here.

7.  On a lighter note, this spring weather is ah-ma-zing!  I'm loving it.  And even though I didn't love losing an hour on Sunday, I love that it stays lighter later.

8.  I just ordered these placemats from Crate and Barrel to match our scarlet-colored Fiesta dinner plates from Macy's.  I just love the bright colors!

9.  Spring Break is less than three weeks away, which means I'll be home in 18 days. I can't wait to see my parents and bahmerahs and am so excited to help celebrate Dems and baby Borges (who is a girl, by the way!!).

10. Gaines and I love making strawberry smoothies, especially now that it's warmer and strawberries are back in season.  We just blend 1 6-oz container of very vanilla Yoplait Light yogurt, 4-5 strawberries, 4 large ice cubes, and a splash of orange juice per person.  They are so easy and delicious and are the perfect drink during this spring weather.
