My parents drove down from Virginia this past weekend, and it was just one of those weekends where I kept thinking, "This is just the most perfect weekend" the entire time. Seriously, it was that awesome. The only thing that would have made it better would have been the addition of Sam and Dales, but thankfully we'll all be together again next weekend! Anyways, just for my sake of remembering this weekend in the future, I wrote down everything we did, just so I wouldn't forget. Feel free to scroll past the words and just look at the pictures. :)
When my parents first drove in, they came by BCMS to see me and meet my kids. When they walked in my classroom right before announcements all of my students yelled, "Hi Mr. and Mrs. Turner!" A few of them came up to say Hi and I made them shake hands and introduce themselves. It really was so adorable. We talked on the back porch until Gaines got home and then the Storys came over for dinner, which included steak, baked potatoes, and a strawberry salad. I hate that I didn't take any pictures this night!
The next morning we got up and made breakfast that included lots of coffee and fresh fruit and then my mom and I went on a long walk around the neighborhood while Gaines and my dad went to the hardware store (Molly had chewed the extension cord to the grill while we were eating...whoops!). We then stopped by a great new store in town before driving to Augusta to eat lunch and shop while my dad and Gaines ate lunch at home, went to the Edenfields to look at their classic cars (he was in seventh heaven!), and then drove out to the farm.
Around five we all got ready for "Margarita in the 'Boro," which was right up the street from our house at the fairgrounds. The Tams opened, followed by the Swingin' Medallions, and The Landsharks (who are a Buffet cover band). We had packed lots of food (including a Chick-fil-a nugget tray) and drinks and enjoyed the nice weather and music.
We slept in on Sunday, ate breakfast, and then planted flowers in the window boxes and pots on the deck (pictures coming soon)!. After my mom and I went on another long walk, we ate lunch and then headed over to Jason and Caroline's to show my parents the new house they are building. On our way back home, we wound around through some of the neighborhoods to show them more of the town. We made slushies and chatted on the back porch until it was time to shower and head to dinner at the Storys, where we sat outside and ate delicious burgers.
If you look carefully, you can see Molly in the window. That's her favorite spot. ;)
On Monday morning we all drank coffee together before they headed back to Virginia. I seriously miss them already, but can't wait to all be back together in Charleston next weekend. 6 days and counting. ;)
